EnhanceR Community Event Grants 2027
Call for proposals: small grants for events in the Research Software Engineers (RSE) and Data Stewards (DS) communities

Why this Call
Research software engineers, data stewards and other research IT professionals work in a wide variety of settings – embedded in a research group, in a core facility, in central IT services or in a dedicated team. Depending on the setting, occasions to exchange experience with others doing similar work are rarer than one might expect, especially beyond one's own institution.
With the Community Event Grants, EnhanceR supports people who are willing to organise such an occasion locally. The grants are deliberately small and deliberately simple: a one-page description, a short budget, a quick decision. Organising a community event should not require a project proposal.
Who can apply
Applicants must be affiliated with a Swiss institution/university and the event must be organised in Switzerland. Applications from institutions where a community is only beginning to form, and joint applications by two or more institutions, are particularly encouraged. Each application must be submitted by at least as many EnhanceR member institutions as non-member institutions.
What we fund
Events that bring the RSE, DS and adjacent communities together and are open to all interested participants: meetups and community lunches, hands-on workshops, hackathons, or a kick-off event for a new local community. A single event or a small series can be funded under one application.
Eligible costs: catering, room hire and technical equipment, travel and accommodation of an invited speaker, materials and printing.
